OUR STORY

1st Generation Family Farm

It's true, we don't have generations of family knowledge in growing garlic...and that's okay. This adventure took shape by doing lots of research, some convincing and making friends with other area garlic farmers who were kind enough to share their knowledge. And why would we do this?  Well, anyone who has met my husband Bryon knows he likes to stay very busy.  He also wanted to teach our three boys to work with their hands, to fix what's broken and the accomplishment that comes from nurturing something and watching it grow.

Join us as this journey begins.

LOCAL ROOTS

The name Local Roots was a perfect fit.  We put down roots in Sagamore Hills, Ohio and the Nordonia area over 48 years ago.  Bryon and I ventured away for college, but found ourselves right back where we started.  We married in 1997. Along the way we added three boys (Jake, Nick and Matt), who have grown up

to be great men, and a pretty cute dog named Ellie to the mix.

Our footprint in the community grew in 2019 when we purchased 15 acres across the street from our home.  As much as we love growth, we didn't want another development to take over our street.  This area was once lined with many local farms and had a rich history of having wide open spaces.  We decided it was worth the leap.  We fixed up the farmhouse and the barn...the rest is history.

Naturally Grown

We follow the most natural and sustainable farming methods that we possibly can. Our garlic seed started from another local farm, Big Roy's Produce, who has a passion for producing the best garlic varieties around.  We are grateful to have such neighborly farmers (and friends) who just enjoy garlic and helping others expand their knowledge of farming.
